I mentioned on a previous comment about Noelle Monique, that Playboy generally follows the mainstream (read: white) formula when it comes to the women that they select; this is particularly true with the magazine. Seeing Karlie Redd was a pleasant surprise at Playboy Plus. While Playboy Plus does not strictly select women that meet Hef’s preference, seeing the epitome of the black standard of beauty on the Website is a rare treat.
As I mentioned in the comment on Noelle, the black women in Playboy and at Playboy Plus more often than not have a “white” physique. Occasionally, there will be a little bubble butt—sometimes even on a white girl—but not the type of huge round ass you would expect to see in any number of magazines that target black men. The exception were women such as Vida Guerra and Kim Kardashian both of whom had notoriety for their assets. It may be that Karlie Redd also falls under that rule as she is a reality TV star.
It is a shame that Playboy does not seem to embrace that beautiful women come in forms much beyond white, slender, (typically) buxom, and (generally) assless. The truly sad part is how many of the white women have boob jobs to meet that standard. Of course, it could be that curvy black and Latina females are just not stepping to Playboy. It may also be that our women prefer to pose suggestively rather than leaving nothing to the imagination. In the black mags, the women are more often in revealing swim wear or, if they are nude the only thing you get a full view of is their ass; the breasts, or at least the nipples, are usually covered over in some way and the vulva is never shown.
