Former Colombian porn star Amaranta Hank has been elected to Colombia’s Congress this past weekend! She is part of the left-wing party Pacto Histórico which gained 25 seats in Congress to help form a coalition government.
Amaranta Hank, who was active in the adult industry between 2017 and 2020 is now a senator!
Here’s what she had to say about her win and former connection to porn:
“I’m not going to wait until the system considers me worthy to demand my place, our place. … I don’t want them to forgive my past or think I’m better now than before. I want them to recognize my power, the power of my voice, and the power of my colleagues.
“I raise my voice for myself and for every woman who, because of having engaged in paid sex work, has suffered exclusion, discrimination, censorship, or any type of violence,” she said.
